Subject:Any powerful battery for zaurus sl-5500?
Security:Public

Hello!
Actually I have couple of questions.
1. My zaurus sl-5500 battery life is pretty short, especially when I'm working with html browser, is there smth new here that can extent its work time? Or is that possible to change the battery without any harm to data?

2. It is too slow viewing even small documents in html/pdf. Besides scrolling the text isn't very comfortable, it's waving on the screen, like there is 5 frames per second. Is there any new browsers availabe that makes work with these type of docs more comfortable?

I've got Embedix Plus PDA v.1.0 ; Opera Browser v.5.0 ; Insignia Jeode JVM PDA Edition ; Qtopia for Embedix Plus PDA v.1.5.0 and Linux Kernel v.2.4.6-rmk1-np2-embedix

What could you advice me to change or upgrade? Is there possibility to install rar archive? Do I understand right, that I need to install for example a gcc compiler and I can actually install all the soft for qtopia by myself? Where can I find an information how to provide zaurus cooperation with Linux, is it possible if I use gnome?
Thanks!

Just gotten myself a second hand SL-5500 and love it.

Just thought I’d therefore say hi after having found this LJ community.

Loving the SL-5500 with OZ 3.5.3/Opie 1.2.0.

Just waiting for a BT and WIFI CF card to turn up now :)

What LJ clients do people use on their Zaurus’ ?

I hear that there is some difficulty finding a wireless card compatible with the SL-5600. Can anyone recommend a model that works?

What web browsers do people here use on their Zs?

I've got Konqueror on OpenZaurus 3.3.5 and it seems to have a problem with showing the Post Comment and Preview buttons when making a reply on Livejournal.

Has anyone successfully used this Opera 7.30 IPK on Openzaurus 3.2?
I installed it but I'm having trouble getting it to run.

Can anyone tell me how to restore a complete backup I made of my Z using rsync after reflashing with the same version of OpenZaurus I had been running previously?

I've been loving my gameboy emulator and I want to move on to others (mostly NES, SuperNES, and Mame). I tried to get some from the normal places but there was a lot of dead links (what's up with docs.zaurus.com btw).

Anybody have any good ones, or know where I can get them..

I'm -NOT- in any way asking for roms, just for the emulators :)

Hello All, just joined. Had an SL-5500 for a while and recently switched to OpenZaurus (I did try a while ago but found it very unstable. 3.3.5 looks very nice, though).

I'm currently tackling a couple of problems at the moment, though. Firstly XMMS-e seems to want to allocate 529Mb at start up and dies with SIGABRT. A bug's been raised on this, though.

Secondly, has anyone been able to get opie-dasher to work? I've installed the package (and opie-dasher-english), but can't seem to find out how to actually activate it. Any experiences would be useful.

http://www.cacko.biz - It's something unbelievably! I haven't just use it, but i already downloaded 77%.=) Let's try it! I think it's a good alternative for Zaurus ROM and OpenZaurus.

More on my last post.

The VNC application that I posted is a VNC key-sending application. It should in theory allow you to send keystrokes to another computer.

I have 2 goals for this:

1) Remote-password entering software. Imagine stepping up to an NT/Linux box, plugging in your Zaurus, selecting the server name on your Zaurus, and pressing Send. Viola, you're logged into the server.

2) Automating my MMORPG games. I want to be able to run some events on a keypress, rather than having to key in all the commands, this should be able to send those keypresses for me automatically. In addition, if I add perl to my Zaurus, I can script automatic responses to events by mounting a SMB share, and reading the system log file.
